In the lead up to Australia Day we invite the children and Educators to wear their Australian colours (green & gold or Australian flag colours), dressing up for an entire week of Australia Day celebrations. Throughout the week the children and Educators will be exploring Australian culture, history and experiences. Each centre will be beautifully decorated with Australian colours and artworks completed by the children. The Educators will be reading stories and singing songs with the children to help them explore Australian history and traditions. The Educators will also explore Australian states, capital cities and territories, well-known landmarks and native Australian flowers within creative, hands-on projects.
Some of the children’s favourite books to read during this time are:
- Possum Magic
- Wombat Stew
- Aboriginal Dreamtime Stories
- Waltzing Matilda
Some of the children’s favourite songs to sing during this time are:
- Australian National Anthem
- Waltzing Matilda
- We Are One
- Red, Black and Yellow
On Friday 25th January we will be having a special Australia Day BBQ to end the celebrations which is always a favourite among the children and Educators! We look forward to seeing many of the children dressed in bright colours, singing our favourite songs and creating some beautiful artwork with the Educators as we explore and experience our own Australian traditions at Kindalin.
